Now faith is the [substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11: 1.
It is not easy when we are waiting for something or someone. Always in the middle of waiting we despair, we want to see immediate results and our faith can weaken in that wait. What are you waiting for? Who are you waiting for? What promise do you expect? What miracle do you expect? How long have you been waiting? Do you still have faith?
There is a story in the Bible in Mark 10: 46-52, where he tells us about a blind man named Bartimaeus, who sat by the road begging. One day, Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was near and began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many people told him to be quiet, but he shouted louder “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then Jesus stopped, and commanded him to be called. So, they approached him and told Bartimaeus to be of good cheer and to rise because Jesus was calling him. Bartimaeus threw off his garments, rose, and went to Jesus. When he arrived at Jesus, Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do to you?” And the blind man said to him: “Master, that I may receive my sight.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, your faith has made you well.” And, immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
When I analyze the story of Bartimaeus, I think about what we carry with us and the time we have been waiting for. Maybe diseases, family and so many other promises that have not yet been fulfilled. Time passes and we despair to such an extreme that we begin to lament, to become depressed, to feel sorry for ourselves, and even lose all hope because someone has already told you that it is too late. You start to believe that it is late as well as people around you look at you with pity as your condition leads them to think that God is no longer by your side or has forgotten you. Today I asked you “How long have you been carrying the cape and waiting by the side of the road?”
Today, we can do as Bartimaeus. Bartimaeus, despite his condition of blindness and poverty of many years, he heard Jesus. But, above all he did not give up, he shouted and shouted: “Son of David, have mercy on me!” They told him to silence. Maybe science and the world tells you to silence, tell you that everything is over and that there is no solution. However, your faith like a mustard seed keeps you on the side of the road and you keep shouting “Lord Jesus, remember me! Have mercy on me! I no longer want to wear this garment! My dear friend since you have not been tired of waiting and screaming, today Jesus is listening to you and says “What do you want me to do to you?” Because your faith made you well.
Prayer: Open your heart
Lord Jesus, today I ask your forgiveness. Forgive me if I have offended you. Forgive me if in the midst of my pain I have lost faith. I want to hear your voice today, I want to be on the side of the road so when you pass, you can call me and I can hear your voice when you say “your faith has healed and saved you”. I ask you, Jesus, that my faith does not fade in the midst of my pain, in the midst of my circumstances. I ask you in your name, Jesus. Amen.

My dear friends, I know it’s not easy to wait. In the midst of the haze, it is not easy to see clearly what awaits us on the other side. But one thing I’m sure, that in the midst of that haze, there will always be sunrise and soon you will see clearly and everything will be fine. Because Jesus has kept you (John 17:15). Blessed are those who mourn, for they will receive consolation (Matthew 5: 4). Remember that “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, and that your fruit will remain; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give you (John 15:16). Therefore, do not be sad, rejoice (John 16:20). What should you do? Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31).
