Communication

“Then Jesus said to them, Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable?” Mark 4:13

The subject of communication has been studied for a long time. The communication even in Jesus’ time was one full of parables, which his disciples still did not understand and Jesus explained each parable so that they could understand the message through what was said.

When I was doing my doctoral dissertation, I took on the task of researching on communication and the effectiveness it had in the development and motivation of employees towards the organization. Continue reading “Communication”

Leadership (Part 6 of 7)

for us, however, there is only one God, the Father, from whom all things come, and we are for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him”. 1 Corinthians 8: 6

During these past five blogs under the theme of Leadership, we have talked about Jesus as the leader by excellence and how his leadership has been one that has influenced humanity. Jesus has been a role model, but very difficult to match. However, his qualities and characteristics of an authentic leader have led us to be imitators of him. Jesus being God has been the only leader by excellence to such an extent that He gave his life for you and me. What authentic leader in our day has made such an act of love for humanity?

Taking the authentic leadership to our current days, Northouse (2013) defined

Authentic leadership – The authentic leader exhibits genuine leadership, led by conviction, and is original, not a copy. In addition, there is a reciprocal interaction between leaders and followers (Northouse, 2013).

Leadership (Part 4 of 7)

” Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant”. Mark 10:43.

One of the qualities of Jesus during his leadership on earth was the willingness to sacrifice himself in favor of a certain goal. Therefore, He was always willing to serve others. We see the example of Jesus in the Bible in John 13 when He took off his garments, took a towel, and girded himself. Then, He proceeded to wash the feet of his disciples. Jesus being God, the leader by excellence, demonstrated his humbleness, his love, and taught us to serve others. Continue reading “Leadership (Part 4 of 7)”

Leadership (Part 2 of 7)

Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. Exodus 18:21

Part I of the Leadership topic, we spoke or wrote about Jesus the leader by excellence. Why have I chosen Jesus as an example for this topic? Jesus remains one of the most popular leaders throughout the world. Today there are millions of followers, many religious denominations and laws that are directed or based on the basic principles of Jesus’ leadership. Continue reading “Leadership (Part 2 of 7)”

Leadership (Part 1 of 7)

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it [b]robbery to be equal with God, 7 but [c]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2: 5-8

I remember while studying my doctoral career, in one of the seminars we were given a task of choosing a leader and discussing their qualities and the leadership style of that leader. And, I remember, that one person in the group quickly said in a loud and strong tone: “That it is not Jesus!” Continue reading “Leadership (Part 1 of 7)”
