Calm! Do not be afraid

But Jesus immediately said to them: “Calm down! It’s me. Don’t be afraid. Saint Matthew 14:27

Recalling Peter’s passage when he asked Jesus to allow him to walk on water, he step out of the boat obeying Jesus’ command. This event required faith. Looking at this scenario, we see that Peter made a mistake. What was that mistake? Continue reading “Calm! Do not be afraid”

Apparent chaos

And rising up, he rebuked the wind, and said to the sea: Hush, be silent. And the wind ceased, and a great calm. Mark 4:39

Everything seems to be in chaos, but it is not until we calm down that we can see and hear what is around us. When we are still, we feel peace and harmony. The world continues to spin. We do not feel when the world turns but, although we do not feel or see anything, everything continues and tomorrow is another day. What awaits us in the future? Continue reading “Apparent chaos”

Battle of the mind

Then Jesus said to the centurion: Go, and as you believed, let it be done to you. And his servant was healed in that hour. Matthew 8:13

I’m reading Joyce Meyer’s book The Battlefield of the Mind. This book had been given to me by a prophet of God, Amaris Morales (may he rest in peace) in 2005 and I always started to read it, but things came up and I put it aside, which has long passed and now the time has come. And, I want to share a portion of this extraordinary book. Continue reading “Battle of the mind”

The impact of the virus on my life

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11

Many of us are living the stage of the extended quarantine until the end of April or until May 2020. Only God knows the extent of this quarantine called coronavirus. We live in difficult times. There are people who feel grateful because they have time to reflect, to share with their loved ones, to meditate and to be in contact with God. But, what about the person who is going through difficult times? Continue reading “The impact of the virus on my life”

The burdens

Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2.

There are times in our lives that we receive bad news from illness, unemployment, finances, family, and so many other things. So many times is our despair leads us to depression. The pain oppresses us to such an extent that many times we lose track of time and those around us. We think many times that we can no longer, and we ask ourselves “who can I trust, but above all who can help me?” So many thoughts come to us that lead us to the edge of despair. But, today I have a word for you my dear friend. Continue reading “The burdens”

The test

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. James 1: 2-3.

Many of us have gone through various tests and even more coming out of a situation comes another. Has it happened to you? Because I do. During the test many of us have lost faith, our strength is exhausted, and we are anguished through the process we are living. We are in doubt, we are depressed, and we even stop believing that God is with us. But, it is good to know that God reminds us that he is in control of our life. What is the key to staying on our feet? Continue reading “The test”

The table is served

Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching; Verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them sit down at the table, and will come forth and serve them. Luke 12:37.

Today, I feel to write some words that my heart and my mind bother me, just to write in a simple and precise way, the table is served. Well, this leads me to think about a biblical event (Matthew 22: 1-14) where Jesus gave a parable about a King that his son was getting married and wanted to give a big party. The King invited his guests, but his guests were so busy and had so many excuses that they never got to the party. So much so, that the King sent his servants back, but they continued with their cares and even others killed the servants of the King. Continue reading “The table is served”
