Distraction

Set your sights on things above, not on things on earth. Colossians 3:2

I was recently waiting at a government agency and  you will know the wait is long. When I went to look for my cell phone, it had been left in the car. I decided to wait and watch the TV they had with their ads or posts. Once I saw them all, I got bored because their ads constantly repeated it. So I decided to look around and to my surprise…

To my surprise, the older people were almost asleep, and the vast majority focused on their cell phones. Also, I wanted to talk to the person next to me, but they were immersed in the cell phone. As I continued to observe, almost 3-hour time lapse, people were still distracted on their cell phones or sleeping. And, I wondered if they had seen the ads, had the opportunity to meet someone new in their lives. Life is unique and many times we lose opportunities because we are distracted. Maybe I would be in the same place as them if my cell phone was with me.

I discovered how important it is to know, that there are lives that are lost and need help. I learned several recipes while waiting, and that there are new businesses that come up every day. It gave me time to reflect that time is gold, that it doesn’t stop. It is only us who stop in time without learning or meeting someone or something new while waiting for the distraction on cell phones. What we stop knowing and exploring because we are distracted?

Prayer: Open your heart

Lord Jesus I am before your presence asking you to help me be a column to help others. Amen.
