“DIE” IN ORDER TO LIVE

John 11:11-15 (Bible Reina Valera, 1960)

11 After he had said this, he went on to tell them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.”12 His disciples replied, “Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better.” 13 Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep.14 So then he told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, 15 and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”

Dying, it’s a reality that will touch us all. But, when we read the story of Lazarus, dying gives us the hope that at some point we will be resurrected. Reflecting on the death of Lazarus, God reveals to us that the old man/woman must die in order to live.

Die what? We have to die our bad habits, our madness, our pride, our depression, our distrust, our loneliness, our low self-esteem, and so many other things that we carry in our hearts and in our minds that disturb us every day.   How I do this? Leaving your burdens to God. There are things that you can’t tell, but you can talk to God. Meditate, reflect and let the wind blow in order to take away your old burdens. I know it’s not easy. But, desire is power. If you want and desire with all your strength, I know you can make it. It’s only up to you to be able to live. What do you think?

Prayer: Open Your Heart

Lord Jesus, forgive my sins. I have carried this cross so heavy that my shoulders can no longer resist. I remember when you walked with your cross to the Calvary which you received helped from a man who in that moment passed by.

Moreover, I remembered that you said in your word take your cross and follow me. I know we’ll always carry our cross, but if you help me Lord Jesus in my walk and with my cross, the burden will no longer be heavy. Give me the wisdom, the health and the strength that I need to leave behind my past and although when my legs feel weak on my walk you will hold me and help me to continue walking. Today, I leave the old self to be born to a new opportunity of life in you and trust only you, Jesus. Amen.

A friendly advice

In a paper, write down all your worries, all pain, all bad habits. Once you write it, read it aloud, breathe, exhale and let it go. Burn that paper (do it in a safe place, for example near the sink and then open the faucet and let run the water). Once this process is done, write the new things you will do and who you will be from now on. Meditate, reflect, and act in your favor and you’ll see that soon everyone will notice the difference in you. Smile, Christ loves you!
