Forgive us our sins, because we also forgive all who offend us. And don’t tempt us. Luke 11: 4
Time passes and a new year soon arrives … forgiving is part of the process of starting over. Forgiving everything we have done and forgiving others for what they have done to us is part of a process that leads us to reflect. Many times we have to let go in order to continue with our life. Forgiveness is based on sincere love and willing to cancel a debt.
Many times people think that forgiving is forgetting what has happened or even depriving oneself of emotions related to situations that have hurt us. More than forgetting, forgiving is remembering the commitment to forgive and remember without hurting. Therefore, forgiving does not mean that we accept the offense or bad action. Forgiving does not mean that we have the same behavior as the other person. Forgiving does not mean that the person acted as if nothing had happened, as there are always consequences. Forgiving does not mean that others take advantage of one. Forgiveness goes beyond.
Forgiving helps us to stop being upset or angry, helps us calm down and allows us to be happy and improves our physical and mental health. Forgiving helps us to be understanding because we are not perfect. Forgiving helps us to be reasonable and forgiving helps us not to intensify the courage or bitterness towards the person who hurt us. To forgive is to heal our interior. What do you expect this new year, to cling to pain, disappointment or establish a new healing path in your heart?
Prayer: Open your heart
Lord Jesus, I ask your forgiveness. I need you to help me forgive as you forgive. Give me the peace and calm that everything will be in your control. Amen.
Friendly advice
My dear friends, I know it is not easy when a person has hurt you. But, I am sure of one thing that God is your lawyer. All we have to do is forgive ourselves and forgive them. It will always be present in your memories, but with God everything is possible. Also, seek help from health professionals who can help you because there are situations that you just can’t handle alone.
